Good routines make me happy

We are now two weeks into the year and I’m feeling really good so far. Routines are always super important for me. They jive really well with my mind, so I’m always looking for ways to create them.

This year is one where I’m really focusing on good habits and routines and letting the bad stuff sort of just vanish away. So, for January, just for starters, I’ve been focusing on using my planner and Notion daily, both for work and home stuff. Notion is more business things, but planner also includes things going on in my personal life. In the past, I’ve had separate planners for business and personal, but they never seemed to work well. Because my business is such a core part of me and my life, separating the two didn’t work out. One or the other would fall off.

I’ve managed two weeks in this new routine where I plan out my day in my planner and transfer stuff from Notion into my planner so I have a nice To-Do list to tackle for the day. I’ve only missed one day so far, but to be honest, that day was so busy I don’t think I did anything but work and sleep.

I’m also trying not to punish myself, but instead celebrate my wins. Also while still acknowledging the things that didn’t get done, but trying not to dwell on them.

I’m also telling myself that white space in my planner is okay. I don’t have to fill all of it with things to do. I can keep it simple and easy. And maybe use stuff from my excessive sticker collection if I really don’t like the white space.

Don’t forget!

Streams on Mondays and Thursdays as well, over on Twitch, where I demonstate mediocre game play and chat with y’all more than I actually play games.

We have also passed the 15k mark in BL4, so we’ve managed to get 5000 words each week. Actually I’m a week ahead, which is good, because work is gonna be crazy this week and I’m not sure I’ll make my 5k goal this week. To actually be done by the end of March, I think I actually need to be writing 6.2k per week, but if I stay on my current track, that should happen without making the goal that high and I’ll end up super happy that I surpassed my goal.

I’m also trying to decide if I want to serialize BL4. I didn’t serialize BL3, for various reasons, but I did for the first two books. So, if there’s interest, maybe I’ll do a rough draft version of it for y’all here or on the blog on my website.

Anyway, that’s what’s been going on this week with me. I’m doing two new habits a month all year long, so I can say I did 24 new somethings in 2024. Because that’s catchy. And it’s exactly divisible by 12, which makes me happy.
